DirectPointe announces the successful one-year anniversary of the acquisition of STI.

DirectPointe has successfully integrated printing and imaging services to provide affordable overall IT management.

Salt Lake City – April 1, 2008 — DirectPointe, the nation’s most comprehensive managed service provider (MSP), today announced the successful one-year anniversary of the acquisition of STI and evolution of Print Suite, a remote printing and imaging maintenance service. The initial acquisition of STI, now known as Print Suite, complimented DirectPointe’s existing managed PC, server and networking services.

“Over the course of time, we have found that around eighty-percent of printer errors can be resolved remotely,” said DirectPointe VP of Printing and Imaging, Lawton Smith. “The DirectPointe Print Suite support technicians can resolve those issues with minimal involvement from office staff; eliminating headaches, waiting time and expense.”

Studies have shown 90% of companies do not know or do not track costs associated with managing their print services. Print costs typically account for 1-3% of a business’ annual revenue. Print Suite offers an affordable solution for print, copy, scan and fax functionality managed through a single vendor to reduce complexity, improve operational efficiency and control the costs associated with multiple vendors, manufacturers and suppliers.

Customers like New Mexico-based, James Hamilton Construction, are realizing the value of adding Print Suite to their current services. “After two days of frustration with our copier, we contacted DirectPointe’s eSupport team,” said Katie Dorris, COO of James Hamilton Construction. “Within a few minutes the DirectPointe team had our copier up and running again. Our office efficiency and functionality have greatly improved with the addition of Print Suite to our IT system.”

DirectPointe can often fix a printing issue before it affects office productivity. Supplies status, error codes, driver updates, serial numbers, model numbers, service history and paper jam notifications are immediately communicated to DirectPointe’s 24 hour eSupport team for oversight, monitoring and reporting.

DirectPointe is dedicated to being on the forefront of providing outsourced IT services that support eWaste initiatives.

DirectPointe’s Technolo-G initiatives make technology simple, manageable, affordable and green.

DirectPointe, the nation’s most comprehensive managed service provider (MSP), is dedicated to being on the forefront of providing outsourced IT services that support eWaste initiatives.

DirectPointe’s Technolo-G focuses on three main areas which reduce technology impacts on the environment: Innovation, Centralization and Recycling. DirectPointe’s innovative Small Office Solution integrates multiple technologies onto one server for offices with less than 50 users.

This multi-function server implementation greatly reduces the number of devices; thereby, reduces power usage for the customer and environmental impacts from manufacturing. DirectPointe also provides annual preventative maintenance on managed printing assets (printers, scanners and fax machines), and have been able to extend the useful life of this equipment by an additional 12 to 24 months.

“Traditionally IT support required someone to physically travel from location to location, but that is time and energy consuming,” said Michael Proper, DirectPointe CEO. “Not only have we centralized our remote support, we can provide faster resolution times for increased productivity; an average of 30 seconds to respond and 17 minutes to resolution.” This model also reduced the need to dispatch service vehicles, thus resulting in a reduction in paper waste, travel impact and service vehicle maintenance and replacement.

DirectPointe’s Technolo-G green initiative also includes recycling. In the past five years DirectPointe has:

Recycled approximately 20,000 pounds of aluminum from used toner cartridges,

Recycled approximately 30,000 pounds of end of life electronics or eWaste,

Prevented approximately 215,000 quarts of oil from being used for the creation of new toner cartridges and

Recycled approximately 100,000 pounds of cardboard, office paper, and packaging waste.

“At DirectPointe, not only are we committed to doing our part to minimize unnecessary eWaste, we are educating our customers on ways they can do their part,” said Proper. “Simply adjusting your personal computer settings to be more energy efficient will have an impact on the environment and a potential savings of up to $100 a year in electricity costs per computer.”
