SLC Chamber Names New VP of Programs and Events
The Salt Lake Chamber has named Jackie Sexton as vice president of programs and events. In this role, which is a new position with the Chamber, Sexton will oversee the Chamber’s premiere events and provide value to Chamber members by further enhancing the roster of training and networking programs.
“From small-group seminars to the biggest productions, we count on Jackie to produce first class events,” said Lane Beattie, president and CEO of the Salt Lake Chamber. “Events bring significant value to our membership and to the community and we’re ready to raise our already lofty standards.”
The Chamber hosts a number of premiere events each year including the Chamber’s Annual Meeting and Small Business Awards, Women in Business Conference and Athena Award Luncheon, Expo MarketPlace and the Giant In Our City Award which honors the lifetime contribution of a local businessperson.
“A Giant In Our City is our biggest event of the year,” said Sexton. “Each recipient is unique so each year the event requires a fresh approach. It’s my goal to make the event better each and every year.”
In addition to the premiere events, Sexton also directs the Chamber’s long-running, successful Leadership Utah Program. Now in its 24th year, Leadership Utah is both a networking and educational program for executives.
Under Sexton’s direction, the Chamber will offer enhanced leadership training to both the Utah Transit Authority and the Utah Department of Transportation through a new Executive Exchange program.
Sexton joined the Chamber in 1998 as a program coordinator for the Women’s Business Center. During the 2002 Winter Olympic Games she was promoted to the marketing department working with Century Club volunteers and assisted with the implementation of a new corporate branding project for the Chamber.
Prior to the joining the Chamber, Sexton worked in the insurance industry. She attended Weber State University majoring in business management and information technology and received a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of Phoenix.
Sexton lives with her husband, Rod and their two children in Centerville.
