10 Surefire Ways to Optimize Your Inventory

Optimizing your company inventory is not only the road to eco-friendly green, but rewards with instant savings and expanded profits. The global economy has set its face to lower its carbon footprint for ecological, monetary and company payroll purposes, although commendable on a voluntary basis, this adaptability may be mandated in the next decade. With global warming and diminishing resources, only the companies that have a proven track record for eco success may be in the running for receivables. Its time to get in gear and mitigate the waste with these fast and efficient 10 easy steps:

1. Insulation
One surefire way to cut energy costs is to keep heat from escaping through the roof. Seemingly energy efficient buildings may need extra insulation to capture and preserve up to 60 percent of wasted resources.

2. Office Recycling
To ensure the waste basket materials are properly sorted, set up three bins for plastic, glass, and paper products. The effort may seem minuscule, but remember that such recyclables are prime ingredients for fiber fuels and help to pave the way for greener inventory management.

3. Green Electricity

Installation of solar panels or wind devices will save substantial company funds and prove to be self-sufficient when others are suffering an energy crunch. Early commitments to alternative energy are eligible for funding assistance programs, depending on location and scale of use.

4. Conserve Water

The responsible usage of water is a significant savings of recycling energy to purify and filter for its reuse. You may keep the water level to a comfortable minimal by replacing three to five gallons per flush toilets with the optimal one to two gallon units.

5. Reduce or Eliminate the Paper Trail
By shifting to electronic paperwork, up to 75 percent of company waste can be drastically reduced while maintaining quality of assurance throughout the supply chain.

6. Centralized Community Access
When using paperless documentation, its essential that all relevant employees have one central location to receive the data.

7. Routing Optimization
In a collaborative effort with the company’s suppliers, a switch to paperless access to update files and deliveries is best served with information related through bar codes and scanners for automated access.

8. Automated Storage Facility
To maximize the flow of operations with company staff and suppliers, all automated data should be kept in an archive for immediate access when necessary.

9. Reusable Packaging
The push for saving resources has generated an entire new market for shipping and packing materials. Be sure to buy reusable cartons, such as Treepac, for durable and dependable multi-purpose use.

10. Share and Inspire
When the company green plan has been implemented, be sure to check your progress and keep your supplies informed. Many companies seek out like-minded others to keep the flow of green moving in the same direction.
