UVEF Names New Board Leadership and Members

OREM, Utah – May 8, 2008 – The Utah Valley Entrepreneurial Forum (UVEF) today announced the appointment of Shauna Theobald as 2008 UVEF Board Chair. In addition, Stephen D. Clark and Steven Roy were named as new members of the UVEF Board.

Shauna Leavitt Theobald serves as Managing Partner of Springboard Solutions Consulting Group and is the contracted manager for the Novell Open Source Technology Center, an incubator for emerging IT ventures.
“We are very positive about the future of entrepreneurialism in Utah,” said Theobald. “While the nation struggles with a slowing economy, Utah’s environment for business growth remains strong. We look forward to building on UVEF’s legacy of encouraging the creation and growth of local entrepreneurial ventures.”

Recent additions to the 2008 UVEF board include Steven Roy and Stephen D. Clark. Mr. Roy is the director of USTAR Technology Outreach and Innovation activities in central Utah. In this capacity he works with private and public leaders to help build businesses. Mr. Clark serves as Director of the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Utah Valley University. He has been active in Utah Valley business and civic affairs for more than 20 years. He served eight years as a member of Provo’s City Council and has served eight years in the Utah State House of Representatives.

Also serving on the UVEF board are Steve Grizzell, InnoVentures Capital Partners; Kyle Bowen Love, Direct Controls, Inc; Les Pardew, Alpine Studios; John Pilmer, PilmerPR; Dr. Mark W. Lund, PowerStream; Bryant Armstrong, Squire & Company; John Richards, Centers for Entrepreneurship & E-Business, Brigham Young University; Tim Hunt, Certiport; Roger Andrus, Business Development Corporation of Provo; and Michael Hennessy, Epic Ventures.

The UVEF is a non-profit support group working to share knowledge and experience. Founded in 1989, the organization promotes the development and growth of entrepreneurial ventures by providing networking opportunities, promoting recognition of business accomplishments and contributions, sharing business experiences and by encouraging free enterprise. UVEF Chair: Shauna Leavitt Theobald serves as Managing Partner of Springboard Solutions Consulting Group and is the contracted manager for the Novell Open Source Technology Center, an incubator for emerging IT ventures.

Shauna currently serves as a member of the Utah Valley University Foundation Board.
Prior to founding Springboard Solutions, Shauna was the regional director of the Small Business Development Center. She has degrees from Brigham Young University, Utah Valley State College, and an MBA from Utah State University.

New UVEF Board Member: Steven Roy is the Director of USTAR Outreach and Innovation activities in central Utah including the Mountainland Region. In this capacity he works with private and public leaders to help build businesses in key economic clusters that add to the economic and employment base in Central Utah.

Mr. Roy has 15 years of experience in organizational development, strategic change management, executive coaching and process reengineering within the high technology sector. Mr. Roy has worked for Sun Microsystems, Inc., Andersen Consulting, LLP, and Brigham Young University, with consulting clients such as Intel, Inc., Applied Materials, Inc, and Siebel, Inc.. Mr. Roy holds a Master of Organizational Behavior from Brigham Young University’s (BYU) Marriott School of Management and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology also from BYU.

New UVEF Board Member: Stephen D. Clark former president of Clark Mechanical Contractors, Inc., serves as Director of the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Utah Valley University.

Mr. Clark has been active in Utah Valley business and civic affairs for more than 20 years. He served eight years as a member of Provo’s City Council and has served eight years in the House of Representatives. He currently serves as a member of the Provo Business Development Board, the Intermountain Healthcare Urban South Region Board, among other volunteer positions.

Clark received his B.A. and M.A. degrees from Brigham Young University in communications.
