At Directpointe, Earth Day Is Yesterday, Today And Tomorrow
DirectPointe’s Technolo-G initiatives make technology simple, manageable, affordable and green.
DirectPointe, the nation’s most comprehensive managed service provider (MSP), is dedicated to being on the forefront of providing outsourced IT services that support eWaste initiatives.
DirectPointe’s Technolo-G focuses on three main areas which reduce technology impacts on the environment: Innovation, Centralization and Recycling. DirectPointe’s innovative Small Office Solution integrates multiple technologies onto one server for offices with less than 50 users.
This multi-function server implementation greatly reduces the number of devices; thereby, reduces power usage for the customer and environmental impacts from manufacturing. DirectPointe also provides annual preventative maintenance on managed printing assets (printers, scanners and fax machines), and have been able to extend the useful life of this equipment by an additional 12 to 24 months.
“Traditionally IT support required someone to physically travel from location to location, but that is time and energy consuming,” said Michael Proper, DirectPointe CEO. “Not only have we centralized our remote support, we can provide faster resolution times for increased productivity; an average of 30 seconds to respond and 17 minutes to resolution.” This model also reduced the need to dispatch service vehicles, thus resulting in a reduction in paper waste, travel impact and service vehicle maintenance and replacement.
DirectPointe’s Technolo-G green initiative also includes recycling. In the past five years DirectPointe has:
- Recycled approximately 20,000 pounds of aluminum from used toner cartridges,
- Recycled approximately 30,000 pounds of end of life electronics or eWaste,
- Prevented approximately 215,000 quarts of oil from being used for the creation of new toner cartridges and
- Recycled approximately 100,000 pounds of cardboard, office paper, and packaging waste.
“At DirectPointe, not only are we committed to doing our part to minimize unnecessary eWaste, we are educating our customers on ways they can do their part,” said Proper. “Simply adjusting your personal computer settings to be more energy efficient will have an impact on the environment and a potential savings of up to $100 a year in electricity costs per computer.”
