Utah Valley Spring Home Expo
If you missed your chance to visit the Utah Valley Spring Home Expo, you’ll want to mark it down for next year (actually, there is one in the Fall, too). I visited today and found a few new things I am looking forward to incorporating into my own home.
There were plenty of vendors there. So many, in fact, I am sure you could have built a complete house using only vendors at the event. Everything from builders, financiers and improvers to home theaters, home security, and countertops. Even the kitchen sink.
I ran into Kip Kint from Mission Ignition. He was there with his wife looking for new ideas for their home and was being slowed down by all the social traffic he was running into (including myself). The isles were pretty full, even at the late hour just before closing time.
Matt Anderson of Wholesale Works was there. We spoke for a while and he showed me the home entertainment system that literally had the attention of his competing vendors at the expo. He confided that one of them was astounded that he could sell for better pricing than they could buy as a distributor. Another vendor, he told me, had offered to purchase everything he had left over from the show. Too bad; as I was standing there, a woman interrupted our conversation to place her order for his last available big screen TV on hand. Don’t worry; he has more. Lots more.
Sold. It was apparently a good show for Matt.
As I walked in to the expo I heard a familiar voice over the loudspeakers. Later it was my pleasure to run into Allison Birch of Bennett Communications, microphone in hand and addressing the crowd as she walked to her next giveaway. Vendors were giving away all kinds of things, and Allison was announcing with a confidently casual style. I mentioned that she should be doing radio. She had heard that one before. I made a note to talk to her about podcasting when I see her at BNI.
The event was at the end of a 10-hour day and she was still smiling. I think it was a good show for her, too.
If you missed it, be sure to plan to catch the one in the Fall. If you are interested in exhibiting, give Allison a call at Utah Valley Magazine.
